This cricketer has no limits. Despite continuous knee injuries, Australia’s captain, Steven Smith has shown his keen desire to play every game ahead of him for his nation, according to IBNLive and ESPNCricinfo.

Smith was on the bench for the first two fixtures of the Big Bash League 2015/16, mainly rested due to his trifling knee injury. Smith’s injury has had a long past now since the ODI series after the Ashes in England.

Not sure about his fitness, it is speculated that David Warner will be stepping into the shoes of the captain for the ODI series against India. Aaron Finch is the T20 captain. Despite all injuries, Steven Smith is still determined to play all the international games, be it the T20 World cup or the tours to New Zealand and South Africa.

Smith said, “I'd love to play every game, this little break's going to be good for me to make sure I can sustain it and I'm just looking forward to everything else coming up, and hopefully be out in the field every game.”

Smith wanted to play for his domestic team too but then realized that a little break would be good for his national side. He added, "I'd have loved to be out here today [for the Sixers] but the rest will do me the world of good. There's plenty on for the rest of the summer and going forward, so a little break's not a bad thing for me and good to go for Boxing Day. It's been good, nice to spend a little bit of time at home and just unwind and do all that.”

Cannot play at 100% now, like T20s demand: Smith

Talking about his knee injury, Smith said, “It popped up in the one-dayers after the Ashes and it's sort of stuck around. It feels ok and then if I dive and land on it just irritates it a bit, so I've been doing that a little bit.”

Smith believes in giving his 100% in every game and that’s the reason he wants to rest right now. According to the Australian Captain, the T20 games require a fast pace and for that you need to give your 100%. He further added, "I guess it's fine going at 90%, it's just if I have to go at 100% it's a little bit sore. That's why I'm not playing the T20s because I'm a pretty competitive guy and it's a pretty fast-paced game and you've got to go 100% to do well in this format."

Steven Smith is one of the best batsmen right now in the world. His injuries could be a major setback for Australia. But looking at his adamant attitude and the drive to play for his country no matter what, it doesn’t look like he will be missing a single game for Australia.

“His desire to play with an injury just sets an example for the youngsters. He is an impact player and his terrific record as a captain showcases that. The Australians must be praying for him to be fully fit for the upcoming international fixtures.
