After making India totter at Johannesburg in the first ODI, South African pacer, Dale Steyn has issued a stern warning to the Indian batsmen. The pacer, who bowled a magnificent opening spell to Rohit Sharma has said that there’s more hostile fast bowling in store for India once they reach Durban.

“In India the ball doesn’t get higher than the stumps. This is not Mumbai. Here, they cannot score easily in different areas and it is going to be hard to play here. And there is more of that coming on Sunday.” – Steyn said.

He also mentioned that the Indian batsmen might end up being “frightened” by their pace attack.

“Wanderers can be scary, if you get a full day-night game there. You can inflict pain there, especially on that sort of a wicket. And we were able to do that as a bowling unit. It didn’t look like that when they were bowling to us. So it definitely was a wake-up call for the Indians.”

He said that the Indians looked shaky against the South African pace battery and it seemed that they didn’t want to bat against them.

“We have really given the Indians a taste of what the conditions are. Our intensity the other night really blew them away. Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and other batsmen in the end, they didn’t look like they wanted to line-up (to bat).”

However, he said that South Africa is not counting India out of the series because the Indian batsmen can bounce back and inflict some pain on their bowlers.

South Africa won’t be taking their opposition lightly.

“They are not the number one side in ODIs for no reason. Like MS Dhoni said pre-match, they have been to South Africa a few times and they have played all over the world. So give them a few matches, they should be able to play well and perhaps get ready before the Test matches begin.”

South Africa will take on India in the 2nd ODI at Durban on the 8th of December and the Proteas would like to wrap up the series there itself.
