Advani in quarters of Khar Gymkhana Snooker Masters

Two-time Asian champion Yasin Merchant and ace cueist Pankaj Advani won their respective games and qualified for the quarterfinals after topping their groups at RKG-KHAR Gymkhana Snooker Masters 2013 at Mumbai.

Merchant came back strongly from last two successive defeats in Group ‘B’ matches and defeated Himanshu Jain 4-0 to book a place in last eight. Advani won his fourth straight round over Shahbaaz Khan to book a quarterfinal berth.

In another match, Siddharth of Railways won his Group ‘C’ match against Saurabh Kothari of ONGC 4-1 and kept his hopes alive for advancing to next round of tournament. He now faces world no. 26 Nigel Bond for second spot in the group.

World no. 21 Stephen Lee of Britain and India’s Kamal Chawla made it to last eight from group ‘A’.

The tournament is being sponsored by Delhi’s Ravindra Gupta and boasts of highest prize money offered in India.
