Mumbai - Sanjeev Bijlani of Park Club edged out Manav Panchal of Malabar Hill Club in a nail-biting decider to progress to the sixth round of the Shyam Shroff Memorial All India Open Invitation Snooker Tournament at the Khar Gymkhana, Thursday.
Bijlani, who trailed 1-2 after winning the opening frame in the best-of-five frames contest, staged a brilliant recovery to force the decider that stretched to a thrilling black ball finish. Leading 50-49, Panchal missed the black to leave Bijlani with an easy pot in the centre pocket.
In other fifth round ties that went the distance, Nitesh Madan of Delhi halted the winning streak of marker Anant Yelve of Jolly Gymkhana, Vidyavihar after leading 2-0, while Adit Raja of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana ended the campaign of Aashit Pandya of Dombivali Gymkhana.
