Chris Froome agrees to a new three year contract with Team Sky.

Tour de France leader Chris Froome has agreed to a new contract with Team Sky that runs until the end of the 2016 season. The 28-year-old Kenya-born Briton has been with Team Sky since its inception in the 2010 season.

Froome’s fiancee and manager, Michelle Cound, said: “There is an agreement and they are just working on finalising some of the details at the moment.

“It should be announced in the next week or two that he will be extending until 2016.”

On the possibility of the deal coming through, earlier Team Principal David Brailsford had stated: “Obviously, it’s no secret that we want him to stay. It’s well under way, should we say. There’s a few dots on the Is and crossing the Ts. It’s not signed, but we’re in an agreement.”
