LONDON (AFP) –

A spectator supports Britain’s Bradley Wiggins competing on July 3, 2010 in the 8,9 km prologue and individual time-trial run around Rotterdam during the 2010 Tour de France cycling race. The coach of Britain’s triumphant men’s Olympic pursuit team, Dan Hunt, has joined Team Sky as sporting director.

The coach of Britain’s triumphant men’s Olympic pursuit team, Dan Hunt, has joined Team Sky as sporting director, the British stable announced on Wednesday.

Hunt, who helped guide Team Sky riders Geraint Thomas and Peter Kennaugh with Ed Clancy and Steven Burke to gold in August, previously worked with the outfit in their inaugural season in 2010.

“I want to learn the races and re-learn the job of a sports director. But maybe also bring different things to the table, because I’m not an ex-pro,” he said on teamsky.com.

“I haven’t ridden these races, so I’ve got a bit of homework to do. I need to expose myself to as much racing as possible to maximise my learning over the first year.”

Hunt is part of a new-looking coaching set-up at the home of reigning Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins, following the departures of Sean Yates and Steven de Jongh last year.
