With the largest available audience, many tend to take advantage of this fact by using Formula One races as a platform to speak their mind. This sunday before the lights went out at the Belgian Grand Prix, Greenpeace activists were out in full swing to protest against Shell Corporation’s decision to begin drilling in the Artic ice.

A banner with “Artic Oil? Shell No!” was put up by activists from the Environmental Organisation on the Main Grandstand.

Shell is the title sponsor of the Belgian Grand Prix and is facing some heat for their actions.

FOM, who control what goes on tv, avoided airing any footage of the banner.
