Eric Boullier – High hopes

Lotus boss Eric Boullier insists that former world champion Kimi Raikkonen is in the fight for the championship. Raikkonen is at the second place in the drivers’ standings thanks to his second place finish in Hungary last weekend and Boullier thinks it is very much possible for the Finn to overtake Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, who currently tops the table.

While speaking to Autosport, Boullier said “It is possible. Kimi is going to have to make his chances of merit; and in Hungary on merit we beat Red Bull – so there will be a good fight.”

Boullier also said that it is even possible for his team to go for the second spot in the Constructor’s Championship. Lotus has been making quick progress and with the new upgrades coming up, Boullier is confident that his outfit can do even better.

“We have some good upgrades coming, so I am quite happy with what we can deliver. At the factory, they have worked hard and well,” he added.

Lotus are ready to deploy their passive DRS system in the Belgian Grand Prix and the team is looking forward to a good show in the next half of the season.
