Former world rally champion Petter Soldberg has said that Kimi Raikkonen became a better Formula One driver after competing in the world rally championship.

“I know Kimi and I believe that the rally made him a better Formula One driver,” he told the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang.

Solberg also commented on Raikkonen’s move to Ferrari saying that his pairing with Fernando Alonso will be interesting to watch.

Alonso will certainly not like it, but Kimi is cool. He drives the car, and that’s it,” he said

Raikkonen spent two years in the rallying circuit from 2010 to 2011 before returning to Formula One with Lotus. Raikkonen will drive for Ferrari next season as the team confirmed his signing earlier this month.
