Italy, Russia win gold at 2013 Fencing World meet

Budapest, Aug 8 (IANS): The 2013 Fencing World Championships continued in Budapest with the finals of women’s foil and men’s sabre as Italy and Russia won a gold medal apiece.

In the final of the women’s individual foil, Arianna Errigo of Italy beat Carolin Golubytskyi of Germany 15-8 Wednesday. Inna Deriglazova of Russia and Elisa Di Francisca of Italy won bronze medals, reports Xinhua.

Golubytskyi beat Francisca 13-12 to advance into the final, while Errigo edged off Deriglazova 15-11 in the other semifinal.

Veniamin Reshetnikov of Russia beat compatriot Nilokay Kovalev 15-13 for the gold in men’s sabre. Aron Szilagyi of Hungary and Tiberiu Dolniceanu of Romania won bronze medals.
