Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna does not rule out possibility of leaving the Emirates

Arsenal Training Session

Bacary Sagna has been outstanding in his performances for the Gunners this season, as Arsenal top the Premier League and qualify for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The French international’s contract runs out at the end of this season, and Arsenal are keen to tie him down an extension. Contract negotiations have been on since August, without bearing much fruit. The 30-year old, is hopeful the parties can arrive at an amicable conclusion sooner rather than later.

In an interview with French television show ‘Club du Dimanche’ on beIN Sport, he said “I’m still talking with Arsenal about a contract extension. I feel good here, I like everyone in Arsenal and I hope that something good will come out from our talks,”

“I have positive feelings in Arsenal, I love this club and I still hope to win a major trophy here.” he added.

However, the defender does not rule out the possibility of leaving the Emirates if contract negotiations break down.

He said, “If I can sign a contract as a free agent from January for another team? It’s an option for me”

Arsene Wenger will not be overly phased by the situation as contract negotiations are, generally, a lengthy affair. However, he will be desperate to hold on to the consistent right-back to boost his and Arsenal’s chances of winning silverware.
