Arsenal set sights on electric Seria A attacker

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to reignite his interest in Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado in the summer, according to reports in the Metro.

The Frenchman failed with a late bid to sign the 25-year-old in January but is ready to tempt the Serie A side with a reported £15 million offer in June.

Cuadrado possesses pace and power in abundance and would be an excellent addition to the north Londoners midfield contingent as he is also able to operate as a second striker, which is a department where the Gunners have been left short of options during the current campaign.

The transfer is likely to be a tricky process though, as the Colombian is part owned by Fiorentina and fellow Serie A side Udinese. The pair have failed to agree a deal over the player’s future but are believed to be content to split the £15 million fee for his services down the middle.

Wenger’s chief Italian scout Tony Banfield has watched the wide man on several occasions this year, but Arsenal could still face competition from city rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who have also tracked Cuadrado of late.

However, due to his South American roots, any deal for Cuadrado is subject to a UK work permit.
