Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry offered new contracts

According to The Sun this morning, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry are to be given new one-year contracts by Jose Mourinho to extend their careers with the club into next season.

Ahead of this season and back in the summer, I couldn’t help but think that for Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, this season could be their final swan song in a Chelsea shirt. As for John Terry? Well, Rafa Benitez more or less cast him to one side when he was fit last season and we never knew if he would be part and parcel of Jose Mourinho’s plans for the current season.

As we have all seen, each of them have played their part so far. John Terry has been ever present and seems as though he is getting back to his best form. Frank Lampard before his injury, also played a big part in Mourinho’s thinking and remains an important member of the team.

Ashley Cole has had his differences but is getting game time now due to the Ivanovic injury so it will be interesting to see what happens when he is fit again.

Who is anyone to judge Jose Mourinho and criticise him at the end of the day! He has always been a fantastic judge of character and his record speaks for itself. He obviously believes that each of them can offer us something well into next season and that’s great news.
