AFC Bournemouth v Burnley: Emirates FA Cup Third Round
Bournemouth and Burnley lock horns in the Premier League on Saturday

In a clash between teams from the lower end of the league table, 19th-placed Bournemouth will invite 18th-placed Burnley to the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

The hosts' winless start to their league campaign continued last week as they suffered a 2-1 home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their first game back since the international break. Dominic Solanke scored in the first half to open the scoring but they gave up the lead in the second half.

Lewis Cook was sent off in the 54th minute, seven minutes after Matheus Cunha equalized for the Wolves and Sasa Kalajdzic scored the match-winner in the 88th minute.

Burnley also suffered a defeat in their first game back from the international break, falling to a 3-0 away loss at Brentford. It was their seventh loss of the season and with just four points to their name, they have just a one-point lead over the hosts in the league table.

Bournemouth vs Burnley Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

  • The two teams have crossed paths 34 times in all competitions thus far, with eight of these meetings taking place in the Premier League. The visitors have the upper hand in these meetings with a 16-7 lead in wins and 11 games ending in draws.
  • They last met in the FA Cup third round in January, with the visitors recording a 4-2 away win.
  • The last 10 meetings between them have produced conclusive results, with the visitors recording seven wins in that period and three games going Bournemouth's way.
  • Burnley have just one win in the Premier League this season, with that triumph coming in their away game against Luton Town earlier this month.
  • In the Premier League, the visitors have a 6-2 lead in wins over the hosts.

Bournemouth vs Burnley Prediction

The Cherries have endured a winless start to their league campaign and their winless run in the league extends to 13 games, with their last win coming at home against Leeds United in April. They have suffered 10 defeats in that period and will be desperate to earn their first win of the season.

They have suffered four defeats in a row against the visitors at home, scoring four goals while conceding 10 times in that period. Two of their three points in the league this season have come at home, so they'll look to leave a good account of themselves in this match.

The Clarets have just one win in their last 13 Premier League outings. Interestingly, their last two wins in the league have both come in their travels. Vincent Kompany has a lengthy absentee list for the trip to Dorset, to which Connor Roberts was added after a red card in the loss to Brentford.

Both teams have struggled in front of the goal this season, with the hosts having the worst attacking record in the competition, scoring just six times and the visitors finding the back of the net seven times.

With that in mind and considering their struggles thus far this season, a low-scoring draw might ensue.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-1 Burnley
