Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who suffered a blow to his left thigh, may play in Tuesday's second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Wolfsburg.

The French striker was replaced by Jesse Rodriguez near the end of the first half, in the first leg where Madrid lost 0-2, which they will have to overcome at their home ground - the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, reports Efe.

The presence of the Frenchman is essential and after tests serious injury has been ruled out.

Benzema collided with Wolfsburg defender Naldo nine minutes into the game and held on the field until 40 minutes, when he finally could not stand the pain and retired limping to the bench.

Real Madrid also said on Thursday that Benzema could recover in time for the La Liga match to be played against Eibar on Saturday.
