Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his 400th goal

On Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo reached the remarkable landmark of 400 goals for club and country in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Celta Vigo scoring a brace in the process. The Portuguese dedicated his achievement to the late Portuguese footballing legend Eusebio, who passed away on Sunday and was laid to rest earlier yesterday in Lisbon.

“We have lost one of the greatest players of all time.”

Ronaldo scored his 399th goal in the 82nd minute, when he poked the ball past the goalkeeper after a rather slow and sluggish start from the star footballer, and went on to score his 400th goal from a Gareth Bale cross.

The 400 goals are made up by 230 goals for Real Madrid, 118 for United, five for his first club Sporting Lisbon and 47 for his country.

The top 10 most scored-against teams by Ronaldo are all Spanish, with Aston Villa and Spurs his biggest victims in the Premier League. Bogey sides for the attacker include Chelsea and Sunderland, against whom Ronaldo has only scored once.
