Cristiano Ronaldo rules out Portugal's chances of winning the World Cup

Portugal skipper Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled out any chance of Portugal lifting the World Cup this time.

Ronaldo felt that any suggestion whatsoever of Portugal being the favorites should best be ignored.

The Europeans are on the brink of crashing out of the tournament as they have only one point from two games after their match against USA ended in a 2-2 draw. Portugal will have to beat Ghana with a huge goal margin and hope for a German win against USA to have any chance of advancing into the next round.

“There might be several factors. It was a long season, but that’s a factor everyone could claim,” said the Real Madrid winger when inquired about Portugal’s struggle in the tournament.

“It wasn’t for a lack of attitude we didn’t win. All teams are here to win and we were never favourites”.

“The dream that Portugal could win the World Cup was always a fictional dream because everything is possible in football, but other teams are better and perhaps deserve it more than we do” added Ronaldo.

Ronaldo said that he is fully fit after the winger was struck down by injuries after the end of the season and reports surfaced saying that the talismanic player’s career could be on the line due to injury.

“I’m not going to justify my physical problems because I’m here to give my best, try to do better, to run,” said Ronaldo.

“What I’ve had isn’t worth everyday newspaper reports about my knee, tendinitis, this or that, the other. So I don’t want to justify it. I am here in body and soul to help the team and we don’t get to reach our goal. Let’s see what happens in the next game.” added the Real Madrid Winger.
