Russian side CSKA Moscow will be forced to play their Champions League match against Viktoria Plze? at rivals Zenit St Petersberg stadium due to heavy rainfall in the Russian capital over the past month. ProSoccer Talk reports.

The surface at CSKA’s home stadium was rendered unfit for Wednesday’s Champions League match and the FIFA approved Luzhniki Stadium is shut for renovation due to it being a venue for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Luzhniki has hosted international games as well as Russian Premier League matches.

Zenit’s stadium of Petrovskiy has a natural surface and the teams home match against Austria Wien will be played before CSKA’s Champions League face-off which could add to the woe’s of the Russian side if the bad weather continues.

Forecasts have not predicted rainfall on Saturday until Tuesday and the matches are expected to go on smoothly.
