DHL, a division of the German logistics company, Deutsche DHL announced its association with the Hero Indian Super League for the 2015 season. As the official partner of the ISL, DHL will deliver back end logistics assistance for the ISL this season. The company also declared that it will recognize the players with most assists in the tournament with the “DHL Winning Pass” award. This award will be for a player from each of the eight teams.

This is not the first time DHL has associated itself with a sporting event/organization. The company is also an official partner with Manchester United. In 2014, German champions, FC Bayern Munich agreed to a six year sponsorship agreement with DHL. Their latest sporting association was with the Copa America 2015 which was held in Chile

At the press conference, RS Subramanian, SVP and Country Manager, India, DHL said, “Our partnership with the ISL further strengthens our commitment to the sport and our support to Indian football players to compete internationally. We are very excited and confident that this partnership will be a celebration of our shared values of speed, passion and teamwork.”

“DHL has a proven record of credibility, commitment and passion for sports. It’s an honor to associate ourselves with a company like DHL. We welcome them on board as we continue this journey of connecting with millions of football fans in India”, said an ISL spokesperson.

The much awaited football tournament will begin from 3rd October in Chennai with the final to be played in Goa on 20th December. Last year’s champions, Atletico de Kolkata will welcome Brazilian legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento also known as Pele for their first home game of the season against Kerala Blasters on 13th October.

The winners of last season’s sensational edition of the ISL, Atletico de Kolkata had a unique experience to indian clubs as they paraded their trophy at the Vicente Calderon in Spain before Atletico Madrid hosted Barcelona in the La Liga. An interaction that would certainly have helped raise the profile of the game.
