The Hague - FC Utrecht defeated FC Twente 4-2 and leapfrogged Vitesse to fifth position in the the Dutch Eredivisie table.

Utrecht, led by former Dutch international Jan Wouters, continued their impressive run in the 2012/2013 season, reports Xinhua.

New signing Jens Toornstra, who came over from ADO Den Haag last week, scored the opening goal on his debut for Utrecht and Jacob Mulenga doubled the score on the stroke of halftime.

The Zambian international converted a penalty after Rasmus Bengtsson fouled Cedric van der Gun and was sent off with a red card.

Dusan Tadic narrowed the margin to one in the second half, but his goal was followed by another Utrecht goal, a Dave Bulthuis header. Twente pulled one back once again when Tadic converted a penalty in the 73rd minute, after a handball by Utrecht defender Mark van der Maarel. However, one minute later Mike van der Hoorn secured the victory with another header.

Also Sunday NEC Nijmegen beat Vitesse in the derby of the province of Gelderland: 2-1. Remy Amieux scored the first goal and after Mike Havenaar’s equaliser substitute Ruud Boymans, who came over from AZ Alkmaar last week, became match winner for NEC.
