TAL Gameweek 4 (Div 1) Preview - Crystal Ball

Can the top three continue their perfect records?

Division 1 resumes after a mini break with teams raring to go with GW 4 set to take place on October 25th. This would have been a good time for all teams to assess their progress so far and take stock of the situation. With the season slowly but surely taking shape, the contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders. Parikrma, Horizons and Supernova all remain unbeaten and have opened up a 5 point lead over fourth-placed Gremio. That being said, only 4 points separate fourth place and twelfth.

8.30 AM: FC Kougen Kikou v Flipkart FC

The early kick-off sees FC Kougen Kikou taking on Flipkart FC. Both teams are coming off similar losses to this season’s title contenders Horizons and Parikrma. While Kougen Kikou made Horizons work very hard for their victory, Flipkart fell to a 58th-minute goal after having held on till then.

Both teams will be looking to shrug off those disappointments by winning this fixture, making it an extremely tight game difficult to call. Flipkart though probably have an edge over their rivals because of a potent striking force even though there is very little to choose between the teams.

Crystal Ball: FC Kougen Kikou (1) - (1) Flipkart FC

10:00 AM: Yataghan Internazionale v Supernova FC

The crucial game between Yataghan and Supernova is up next. While Yataghan are coming in on the back of two consecutive losses, Supernova are heading into this one with two narrow 1-0 wins, keeping their title charge going. They can expect a similar test against Yataghan, who have a knack of playing at their best against the bigger teams. Yataghan meanwhile, actually need to win this game to snap their losing start to the season and one cannot discount the possibility of that outcome either.

Crystal Ball: Yataghan Internazionale (1) – (1) Supernova FC

11:30 AM: Project 7 v Rare Dare FC

Project 7 and Rare Dare FC face off in the 11.30 kick off with both teams coming off good wins in the previous gameweek. Project 7 have exceeded many expectations and are currently 5th in the table. Rare Dare are in 9th having played only 2 games and their only win coming against Mercurial in Gameweek 2.

This is another tight game to predict with both sides looking vastly improved from last season. This should make for an interesting game with Rare Dare having an edge due to their physicality and fitness. Disciplinary suspensions to some of their key players though, will play a key part in deciding the outcome of this tie.

Crystal Ball: Project 7 (1) – (1) Rare Dare FC

1:15 PM: Parikrma FC v Gremio FC

The first game in the afternoon session between Parikrma FC and Gremio FC is the pick of this week’s matches. Parikrma laboured to a victory last week against Flipkart and remain on top of the standings courtesy goal difference only. Gremio finally put together a solid performance to pick up their first win of the season. Gremio will give Parikrma a very hard time if they do not pick up their gameplay and struggle as they did last time around. Gremio though have to be cautious despite having the talent and ability to win this one.

Crystal Ball: Parikrma FC (2) - (1) Gremio FC

2:45 PM: Mavericks FC v Samba FC

Next up, we have the game between Mavericks FC and Samba FC. Samba FC must feel aggrieved after losing their previous game against despite playing well. Mavericks meanwhile, were defeated convincingly by Gremio and will be looking to bounce back from that. On paper, Samba FC are clearly the better side but if Mavericks can get their full-strength squad for the game, they are sure to cause some problems for their opponents. Samba FC though will be looking to make up on some lost ground and climb up the table.

Crystal Ball: Mavericks FC (1) - (2) Samba FC

4:15 PM: Mercurial FC v Horizons FC

We round off the action for the day with the game between Mercurial FC and Horizons FC. Mercurial FC are languishing at the bottom and are the only team that has failed to pick up any points so far. Even more startling is the fact that they have failed to score in all the three games.

They will need to sort out their attack and also shore up their defence against a team like Horizons to get anything out of the game. The chances of that happening are bleak, especially with Horizons having to make up on goal difference. Mercurial can only hope that they are not at the wrong end of a cricket-like scoreline.

Crystal Ball: Mercurial FC (0) – (3) Horizons FC
