Gareth Bale confirms he wants to join Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland - Premier League

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has told the club that he wishes to move to Real Madrid for a world record fee.

Real Madrid have been pursuing Gareth Bale ever since the transfer window opened and have reportedly made an offer of £85m for him, which would make him the most expensive player in the world, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo‘s transfer fee of £80m.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has said that the 24-year-old would not be sold at any cost. However, it seems that he may have no choice now that the winger has decided where his future lies.

The Welshman had a terrific 2012/13 season, netting 26 goals in all competitions. Even though the winger seemingly loves the London club, he has always stated his desire to play regular Champions League football.

Brazilian star Kaka said he would be happy if Bale joined him at Real Madrid.

“If he comes he will be welcome. He’s an amazing player with a lot of tricks. We’re happy if he comes,” Kaka was quoted as saying.

Barcelona player Javier Mascherano too has said he would like to see Bale at Madrid.

“Always when players with quality come it is very good for the league,” he told Fox Sports.

“Bale is a player that has shown in the last three years that he is one of the best in his position.”
