Goa government approves assurances for 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup

The Goa cabinet under chief minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday approved necessary agreements for the state to be a potential host for the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by India.

These agreements include guarantees by the Goan state government in regard to security and creating the necessary legal framework besides tax exemption for FIFA, match tickets and other points.

The points for clearance had been send by the All India Football Federation to the Goa government for clearance at the earliest to ensure that Goa is one of the six hosting venues for the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup.

Eight cities in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Kochi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Guwahati had bid to be one of the six hosting venues for the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup.
