Football Association Chairman- David Bernstein is positively confident that Roy Hodgson is the right manager to lead England to the 2014 World Cup.

Bernstein, who has reached the age limit for his position- 70, will be replaced by former BBC director general Dyke.

Hodgson succeeded Italian Fabio Capello, signing a four-year deal on 1 May 2012, and took charge of England at Euro 2012.

England is currently second in their World Cup qualification group, two points behind Montenegro, with four games left to play.

They were involved in two consecutive ties last week; one during last week’s 1-1 friendly with the Republic of Ireland and the second one in a 2-2 draw with Brazil in Rio’s Maracana Stadium.

And Bernstein added: “I think Roy has been a first-class appointment and I am very confident he will bring us back to Brazil.”

Amidst all the laudatory comments, Bernstein, however, has admitted that the scale of the disappointment that would be felt in England should Hodgson fail to take them back to Brazil, would be unfathomable.
