Hull City agree fee for Birmingham's Curtis Davies

Birmingham City v Blackpool - npower Championship

Hull City are close to signing Birmingham City defender Curtis Davies.

The former England U-21 international was a target of Norwich in January but the deal never materialized. Reports suggest that a fee believed to be around £2.25m has been agreed between the two clubs for the player and Davies is set to have his medical soon, which will just be a formality, according to Birmingham manager Lee Clark.

“We’ve agreed terms with Hull City,” said Clark

“Obviously Curtis and his advisor will be trying to do the same on a personal level.

“Then, he will be going through a medical and that will probably be a formality because he played numerous games for us last season and has got a good appearance record over the past year” the Blues manager added.

The 6ft 2in defender has played in the Premier League before with West Brom and Aston Villa. He was one of the top earners at St. Andrews, and the Midlands outfit are looking to trim their wage bill next season. Top scorer Marlon King could follow Davies to the KC stadium, with Steve Bruce rumoured to be interested in his services.
