Jurgen Klopp is under fire after Borussia Dortmund lost their eighth game in the Bundesliga

After their eighth loss in the league, Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp responded to criticism and refused to step down as manager. Dortmund lost 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt and the club now have just 11 points after 13 games, having won only thrice while losing eight times.

Klopp, who took over the reins at the club in 2008, is now in his seventh season. But this is the first time he is under severe pressure with the club now languishing at the bottom of the Bundesliga table with relegation looking a likely prospect.

I am a fighter, won’t step down: Klopp

Klopp spoke at an event in Frankfurt on Monday, saying: “I am not someone who just steps down. I do it all or nothing. And as long as Dortmund wants it, I will do it.

“I am a fighter. And I am a better coach than in 2012, you just don't see that in the table,” he added.

The club’s sporting director Michael Zorc also commented on the current predicament, saying: “It's just like Lindenstraße [a popular German soap opera]. It's on every week.

“We are stuck in a relegation battle. In the last few weeks, we paid attention to the gap to the top -- but that's over now.”

If you want success, become a fan of Bayern Munich: Klopp

Dortmund fans are known to support their team through thick and thin and have never wavered in their support for the club and manager. But they too were in no mood to lend any support to the team after the loss to Frankfurt. The team was jeered and whistled by fans at the away end after the game.

Klopp commented on the situation and said: “I totally understand the criticism, that's just human. I also understand the whistles. They are normal.”

“But everyone who whistles must also question himself whether it's helpful to have a go at someone who just failed a test and tells him: ‘You are too stupid to piss in the snow’.

“But regardless of that, the situation feels disastrous. Nobody needs it.”

He also mentioned that fans “who only want success have one chance: become a Bayern Munich fan.”
