Liverpool have stated that their influential captain could miss up to six weeks of action following his hamstring injury during the 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.

The England international limped off in the second half of the game against West Ham following a reckless challenge by Kevin Nolan, who was dismissed late on at Anfield. A scan confirmed the bad news.

The injury comes at a time when Liverpool are facing a crunch test as they face off against the likes of Tottenham,Manchester City and Chelsea in the coming weeks.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is already without the services striker Daniel Sturridge, who is out until late January due to an ankle injury, and left-back Jose Enrique, who is recovering from knee surgery and won’t play again until February.

Rodgers is also sweating over Henderson’s injury concerns as he was seen wearing a protective boot following the Saturday game.

Gerrard’s injury means that he will possibly be out till mid January 2014.
