Rumour: Manchester United and Tottenham target James Rodriguez ready to move

James Rodriguez has been in sublime form in the World Cup

Tottenham and Manchester United have been linked with a mega-money move for Colombia and Monaco star James Rodriguez after his stunning performances in the group stages of the World Cup, according to talkSPORT.

Rodriguez has been wonderful for Colombia, who have won all three of their group games and head into the last-16 as one of the most impressive sides in the World Cup so far.

James Rodriguez, often referred to simply as ‘James’, has scored three goals for Colombia in the World Cup and topped his displays off with a wonderful chipped goal against Japan as Colombia thrashed the Asian side 4-1.

The 22-year-old, who starred for Monaco in Ligue 1 last season, has been strongly linked with a move to Napoli, however the players agent has made comments to encourage other clubs concerned who may have been worried the Serie A side had a deal wrapped up.

Spurs and Man United had previously joined the long list of interested clubs after his rousing displays in Brazil this summer. His tournament is set to continue and attracted clubs continue to get the chance to scout the attacking midfielder.

But both Louis van Gaal and Mauricio Pochettino are ready to step up their interest in the Monaco player after his agent Aytekin Erayabakan confirmed Rodriguez is yet to make a decision on where he will be playing next season.

Erayabakan, speaking on Italian website AreaNapoli, said: “I can confirm that I have spoken with Napoli.

“(Aurelio) De Laurentiis is a great person and one of the best Presidents I have ever seen. But the Neapolitans are not the only ones that are following Rodriguez. Let’s see what the future holds.

“There are several European clubs after him, but it’s best not to say anything at the moment.

“How much will he cost? I don’t know. But what I can say is that his price has increased after the way he’s played these past few months.”James Rodriguez has assisted two goals and scored three during the World Cup so far.
