Ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had promised to release India's official kit for the big event. It was launched by its maker Nike in a fancy unveiling last week. But instead of the discussion being on the fabric and the design of the jersey, it received bad press because of its insanely steep pricing.

The Indian football team's jersey is priced at, believe it or not, ?4695. Yes, we haven't made a mistake in the price! After taxes and shipment charges, the total cost of the Indian jersey touches a mark of ?5500. This has caused a huge uproar in the country where many football supporters criticised the board as well as Nike for making the jersey unnecessarily expensive, and consequently, out of reach of most Indian football fans.

An ignorance of the know-how of the Indian economic conditions has led this jersey to be a total bust with the public. The fact that India's team kit costs more than almost every top football team in the world makes this matter an even regrettable one.
