Louis van Gaal worried after Marcos Rojo suffers shoulder dislocation in Manchester Derby

The loss in the Manchester Derby notwithstanding, Louis van Gaal and his side Manchester United were dealt another blow on Sunday when defender Marcos Rojo was carried off on a stretcher following a shoulder injury that he suffered in the 56th minute. Later, it was revealed that the Argentine defender had dislocated his shoulder and will miss next week’s fixture against Crystal Palace.

To make matters worse for the Red Devils, Chris Smalling will also play no part in the game against Palace following his red card in the derby.

When enquired about Rojo’s condition, the 63-year old said, "We will have to wait and see."

Manchester United are short of defenders: Van Gaal

The 24-year old joins Phil Jones and Jonny Evans in the group of players who are out injured and Van Gaal said that he was worried about the lack of defensive options in the side.

"So many defenders are injured and you have to play each week with another defence “. he said.

Despite the loss, however, the former Netherlands manager praised his side’s performance. United played with 10 men for the entire second half.

“Despite the result against Manchester City, I think we are very close. When you see what we have done with 10 players against 11 you can be proud as a coach,” Van Gaal said.
