Manchester United News: New look side excites Chicharito

Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez admits that the team is buzzing with excitement at the moment after making a perfect start to their title defending campaign.

United have won all four of their Premier League matches thus far, scoring a record 18 goals on the way. Owen Coyle’s Bolton were outclassed by the Red Devils as the Trotters were left gaping at the speed and intensity of United attack. Chicharito, who was playing his first full match of the new season, opened the floodgates in as early as the 5th minute when the 24 year old sent a Luis Nani cross into the back of the net.

“There is a lot of excitement about this team. Everyone knows about Bolton but we played very well. We created chances and scored goals. Scoring early settled us down. Once you are up in front, the other team needs to go towards your goal. Then you can start to attack more.”

Chicharito is excited about his team's chances.

And the Mexican is really looking forward to continue his partnership upfront with Wayne Rooney, who has scored six goals in his last two outings to become the first United player to score successive hat-tricks in the league since Alex Dawson in 1960. Everyone can see a quality partnership developing between the two that has already been compared to that of Dwight Yorke/Andy Cole during the glorious 1999 season. Chicharito is all praise for his strike partner.

“Wayne Rooney is unbelievable. He can do anything on a pitch. His movement is excellent and he always plays for the team- there are no individual achievements.”

Hernandez believes he is now fully recovered from the mild concussion that he suffered during United’s preseason tour to the USA. Even after the season began, Sir Alex decided to give him a couple of weeks rest to regain full fitness.

Chicharito has been playing continuously for the past two years. He was a regular at his old club Chivas, then he featured for his national side in the 2010 World Cup. Following his transfer to United, Chicharito’s steady progress forced last season’s golden boot winner Dimitar Berbatov to sit out of the Champions League final. Even after the 2010-11 season, Chicharito was involved in Mexico’s successful Gold Cup campaign. But the striker is now fit and announced his return to the league with a brace against Bolton.

“Scoring goals gives any striker confidence. But the most important thing for me was that I managed to play 90 minutes for the first time because I have been out for two months. I could have scored three myself but I only play to help my team. I will keep working for that to enable us to get more points.”
