Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has lauded the efforts and talent of Madrid’s youngster Marco Asensio, insisting that his left foot is as good as Lionel Messi’s, according to Marca.

The 20-year old received the praise from his manager and idol in a pep talk that Zidane gave to the Spanish youngster.

Asensio’s touches and creative ability has been much documented since he broke into the first team and the attacker seems to have left a huge impression on the technical team at the club especially manager Zidane.

The French tactician was left amazed by the abilities of the Spanish prodigy, the first time he set his sights on him and moved to award Asensio a new contract.

Despite the quality abound at the Santiago Bernabeu, Asensio has played 11 times for the Los Blancos this season in the La Liga, and although he may not have played as much as he would have wanted, he knows his time will arrive very soon.

One telling fact is that Asensio is also one of the youngest players in the Madrid squad but barely shows his youthfulness when clad in the famous white shirt. The Spaniard is highly rated at the club and is tipped to be one of the superstars to emerge from the Spanish capital.

He is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Spain at the moment and has done little to disprove that. However, to receive comparisons with one of the best players the world has ever seen, Messi, you have to be special and that is what Asensio is.

He has an eye for a pass and can beat a man, attributes the Madrid faithful always want to see in their forwards or midfielders.

In the FIFA Club World Cup, Asensio was left as an unused substitute in their 2-0 win over Club America. Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema were the goals scorers for Zidane’s side.

The Club World Cup is also the fourth competition that Asensio has debuted in the 2016/2017 season but having to compete with Luca Modric, Isco, Toni Kroos, Matteo Kovacic and James Rodriguez, his playing time has been limited. Yet, his maturity has seen him keep a high head to wait for his time at the club that is awash with top class talent.
