Mark Hughes confirmed as Stoke City manager

Mark Hughes has been appointed as Stoke City’s new manager. He replaces Tony Pulis, who left Stoke by mutual consent last week.

Hughes, who had decent stints with Blackburn, Manchester City and Fulham in the Premier League, failed to emulate the same success in his term at QPR, winning only eight of the 34 games in charge. This led to his sacking and he was subsequently replaced by Harry Redknapp.

The former Manchester United striker inherits a club built in the mould of the recently departed Pulis, who was at the helm for 7 years.

Stoke are known for their direct style of play and physicality.
