Moyes claims Van Persie has no regrets about United switch

Robin Van Persie made the correct decision to join Man United

David Moyes has claimed that Robin van Persie has no regrets about his move to Manchester United, in contrast to Arsene Wenger’s comments earlier this week.

Van Persie, who won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first season at Old Trafford, caused a stir by signing for Arsenal’s fierce rivals, but Moyes thinks his early success at the Red Devils has justified his reasons for leaving the Gunners.

“Robin must have had strong views about joining Manchester United and I’m sure he’d say he’s made the right choice.

“He was a great player at Arsenal. What he did there was great and he’s come to Manchester United and done exactly the same.” said the Scot in an interview with The People.

The former Everton manager went on to sympathise with Arsene Wenger for the circumstances in which the transfer went through, but claims that it’s just part and parcel of the modern game.

“Nobody wants to let their best players leave and Robin, undoubtedly, was one of Arsenal’s best players.

“But his contract was running out, so there was a situation where Arsenal had to act and United wanted him.”

Robin van Persie has created just 5 chances in the Premier League this season, a stark contrast to the same stage last season when he had created 17 chances.
