Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has lauded Bruno Fernandes' consistency and leadership skills. The Spaniard believes the Red Devils' captain is a great example for young players to emulate.

Although it's been a largely underwhelming outing for Manchester United this season, Bruno Fernandes has managed to prove his worth yet again by producing decisive performances and raising the level of his teammates.

Most notably, his leadership skills have been on display, especially in recent weeks when he's been the go-to man on the team. His incredible consistency and leadership have caught the eye of Juan Mata, who waxed lyrical about him during a recent interview with ESPN.

“I can tell you that there is a great leader in there right now, which is the captain, Bruno," the former Manchester United star stated. "I should tell all young players to look up to him."
“I cannot tell you how important he is for the club and not only because of what he’s done in the last games, scoring two goals and winning the game (against Sheffield United), but his consistency within the years that he’s been playing for the club is just incredible," he added.

Bruno Fernandes has proven to be a good investment since joining the Red Devils a few years ago. He's been one of the best midfielders in England over the last couple of seasons and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Bruno Fernandes' stats for Manchester United so far this season

Bruno Fernandes stole the highlights with his contribution of two goals and one assist to inspire Manchester United to a 4-2 victory over Sheffield United in the Premier League on Wednesday, April 24.

Following that effort, the Portuguese has now raised his tally for the Red Devils so far this season to 15 goals and 11 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. That includes 10 goals and seven assists in 32 League games and five goals and four assists in cup competitions, including the Champions League.

Up next, Erik ten Hag's men will go toe-to-toe with Burnley in league action at Old Trafford on April 27 before locking horns with Crystal Palace away from home on Monday.

That said, United currently occupy the sixth position in the league table with 53 points in 33 games. They're also active in the FA Cup, where they'll lock horns with local rivals Manchester City in the final at the Wembley Stadium on May 25.
