Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has urged the club's fans to support the players after their 1-0 win over Copenhagen at Old Trafford on Tuesday, October 24.

The Red Devils secured a 1-0 win over Copenhagen in a crucial UEFA Champions League group-stage match on Tuesday. The visitors had plenty of chances to score with 16 attempts but failed to do so. Manchester United took advantage of it in the 72nd minute as Harry Maguire scored via a header.

Copenhagen then received a penalty in the dying minutes of the game after a foul from Scott McTominay. However, Andre Onana saved Jordan Larsson's penalty to secure a big win for the Red Devils.

After the game, Evra took to Instagram to urge United fans to stop the hate on Maguire and Onana, writing:

"I'm begging all my @manchesterunited fans to keep supporting every players on this team thank you @harrymaguire93 and @andreonana.24 never give up 🙏 #ilovethisgame #positive4evra #manchesterunited"

He also commented on Manchester United's Instagram post on Onana's save, saying:

“The hate have to stop please 🙏”

Maguire has been subjected to immense criticism and hate in recent years and was even linked with a move away in the summer.

His recent displays, however, have been very good. He provided an assist in United's win over Brentford, won the Player of the Match award against Sheffield United, and scored the winner against Copenhagen.

Onana, meanwhile, has had a terrible time at Manchester United since arriving from Inter Milan in the summer. He has conceded 20 goals in 13 games across competitions and has made multiple errors so far.

His penalty save against Copenhagen might do his confidence a world of good moving forward.

Manchester United win third game in a row ahead of Manchester City challenge

The Red Devils have had an abysmal start to the 2023-24 campaign, with poor performances across competitions. However, they have managed to stitch together a three-game winning streak across competitions.

Manchester United beat Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League despite trailing until the 93rd minute as Scott McTominay scored a brace. They then won 2-1 at Sheffield United before their Champions League win over Copenhagen.

Erik ten Hag's side have moved to third place in UCL Group A and eighth place in the Premier League table. They will next host city rivals Manchester City on Sunday, October 29.
