“I think he’s a bit of an idiot” – Agbonlahor slams Manchester United star for his recent antics

Gabriel Agbonlahor slammed Manchester United attacker Antony for his recent on pitch antics. Antony was involved in a tussle with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister during the team's 1-0 defeat.

He kicked out at the Argentine during a heated incident. Antony, though, avoided red card for his actions. Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor slammed the Brazilian's recent antics. He said (via TeamTalk):

“I think he’s a bit of an idiot, to be honest. There was no need for that tackle on Mac Allister, and then he’s trying to go chest to chest with a giant in Lewis Dunk. He’d have destroyed him.”

Agbonlahor further urged Erik ten Hag to have a word with Antony for his antics. The former Aston Villa striker added:

“Is Antony frustrated with his own performance, and that’s why he’s lashing out? He can’t take a player on, he can’t beat a man, he can’t get a shot on goal. He’s got to be frustrated with his own performances this season."

"Ten Hag has got to speak to him about it. He’s got to calm down or he’ll get red cards. He’s got to try and become the £86million player he was brought in to be.”

Since his big money summer move from Ajax, Antony has scored 10 goals and has provided four assists in 44 matches across competitions for Manchester United. He has scored four goals and has provided one assist in 22 Premier League appearances so far this season.

What's next for Manchester United?

Manchester United will return to action on May 13 as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League home clash. The Red Devils are currently riding a two-game losing streak.

Two back-to-back 1-0 away defeats against Brighton and West Ham United have caused concerns. Erik ten Hag's team, however, still look the favorites to secure a top four finish.

They have 63 points on the board from 34 league matches and hold a one point lead over fifth placed Liverpool, having played one game lesser. With three wins from their remaining four league games, Manchester United can seal a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League.
