Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets recently announced that his decision to leave the club is, contrary to speculations, not tied to Lionel Messi's future. Following the jubilation after winning the La Liga title, Busquets encountered a flurry of media questions, which sought to unearth his next chapter.

The spotlight turned squarely on Busquets as he was inevitably asked if he might reverse his decision to leave and remain in Catalonia for another season. After he noted that he would not change his mind, he was probed about his next club, to which the Barcelona legend responded (via Barca Universal):

"I haven't signed anything yet. There is interest from several clubs, but I won't make a decision until the end of the season, now it's time to enjoy!"

Earlier this year, the rumor mill was rife with conjecture that the stalwart defensive midfielder might extend his tenure at Camp Nou, should Lionel Messi return. The idea was that Busquets yearned for one more season with the former talisman. Yet, when this theory was put to him, Busquets dismissed it outright:

"My future linked to Messi's? Everyone wants to play with Leo, he is the best in the world. But my future is not linked to Leo's future."

Barcelona vice-president discusses Lionel Messi return

Barcelona has been abuzz this summer, with the possible return of their beloved Lionel Messi dominating headlines. Despite encountering numerous hurdles in their mission to bring back the Argentine maestro, the club's hierarchy hasn't shied away from expressing their eagerness to welcome their prodigal son.

Even at 35, Messi's iconic status remains unscathed among the Barca faithful. Club president Joan Laporta recently voiced his wish to sign the legendary playmaker this summer, promising to pull out all the stops to make the dream deal a reality.

Rafa Yuste, Barcelona's vice-president, has echoed Laporta's sentiment, keeping the flame of hope alive among the Blaugrana supporters. He remains optimistic about snatching Lionel Messi, who's poised to bid adieu to Parc des Princes at the season's close (via Fabrizio Romano):

"I’d love for Leo Messi to return here. Of course, it depends on his decision, but we’d love to have Leo back. We hope for Messi here next season."

The potential reunion of Messi and the Catalan club adds an electrifying undercurrent to the upcoming season. The summer transfer window will tell if Lionel Messi will don the Blaugrana jersey once more.
