No bid from Arsenal for Higuain: Real Madrid

No Gunners move for Gonzalo Higuain?

In a stunning development sure to further infuriate Arsenal fans, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed that there has been no bid made for striker Gonzalo Higuain by the North London club.

Speculation of the Argentinian’s transfer to the Gunners has been rife in recent weeks.

Many reports in the English media had claimed that Arsenal were close to sealing a club record £23 million deal for Higuain.

However, in an interview with Univision, Florentino Perez has rubbished those reports.

“We don’t want Higuain to leave.”

“What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table.”

The news will come as a surprise for Arsenal fans who were looking forward to the striker’s move. Arsenal lost Robin van Persie to Manchester United last year due to a perceived lack of ambition. Many fans expected Arsenal to strengthen significantly this summer and Higuain’s signing was seen as a positive move.

With Perez’s latest comments, however, it remains to be seen how fans will react.
