5 reasons why Lucas Moura can be the answer to Manchester United's attacking woes

Manchester United are looking to sign the out of favor Brazilian from PSG
Manchester United are looking to sign the out-of-favor Brazilian from PSG

According to Sky Sports and The Guardian, Lucas Moura is keen on joining Manchester United, with United considering a loan move until the season end or a cut down price of around €15 million for the explosive attacking midfielder as per independent.

With the Brazilian out of favor at Paris Saint-Germain & with the World Cup fast approaching, the move can be beneficial for all the concerned parties.

Since his arrival, Mourinho has filled the key positions at United but is still not satisfied with the No.10's at his disposal.

Juan Mata has been reliable but far too inconsistent to nail down a regular berth. Henrik Mkhitaryan started the season explosively but since then has dropped out of favor with his substitution at halftime against Derby County the latest indication that Mourinho has no trust in him.

The lack of a regular & consistent no.10 behind the striker has also affected Romelu Lukaku, with Belgian's goals & confidence looking dried up. The move for Moura can be the shot in the arm that Manchester United has been looking for.

Here are the 5 reasons that Moura can be a stellar signing for Manchester United

#5 Moura has been on United's scouting list for a while & will come cheap

Sunderland v Manchester United - Premier League
Sir Alex tried to sign the Brazilian but then rebuffed at the fee

This isn't the first time that Manchester United has tried to sign the Brazilian. Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sign the then 20-year-old Moura from Sao Paulo but then rebuffed by the fee demanded from the Brazilian club. Moura ended up signing for PSG in January 2013.

The Brazilian has been on United's watch list for a long time and the club knows exactly what they are getting and United will be able to sign him for far less than when they tried to sign him the first time.

#4 He is a real threat in front of goal

Arsenal FC v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League
Moura has consistently scored or assisted for PSG

Although Moura has yet to score 20 goals a season, he is becoming a real threat in front of the goal. His goals have been increasing steadily and the previous season was his best with 18 goals in all competition.

With United yet to find a reliable goal scorer who can be consistent, Moura can become an integral cog for a side that has seen its attacking players putting in their fair share of goals sporadically.

Moura likes to create chances for his teammates and United has sorely missed a consistent No.10 performer. With the World Cup on the horizon, the out of favor PSG maestro will look to grab the opportunity at United with one eye on making the Brazilian team to Russia.

#3 A perfect Mourinho No.10 player

Real Madrid CF v RCD Espanyol - La Liga
Mesut Ozil played his best football while at Real Madrid under Mourinho

Mourinho prioritizes defense over attack and expects the same from his No.10's as well. While at Madrid, Mesut Ozil became the undisputed No.10 at Madrid and would execute Mourinho's tactics to perfection.

There is no doubt that Mourinho is looking to sign his trusted lieutenant again. Although Mata was unable to convince Mourinho at Chelsea, he has become an able right winger for Mourinho at United. Mkhitaryan has also been unable to replicate his Dortmund form & Lingard is the preferred No.10 these days.

United desperately needs a new No.10 who can execute Mourinho's counter-attacking tactics. With pace, dribbling & an eye for a pass, Moura also tracks back regularly & work his socks off for his team and looks to be in the preferred Mourinho No.10 cast.

#2 He can be the partner in crime for Lukaku

Swansea City v Manchester United - Premier League
Lukaku has lacked the support of a No.10

United started this season with real panache & swagger that has been missed at the theater of dream for a long time.

Alas, the team has again become a side that looks devoid of any creativity. Lukaku has suffered the most, not been able to score consistently and it has affected his confidence as well.

A clear reason has been the lack of a consistent No.10 who can take up the mantle of creating chances week in & week out. Moura can be the perfect partner for Lukaku and wingers as well.

He can be the player who links the wingers with the midfield, passes to the striker with a perfectly timed release and if required, drops deep to support the midfield.

With his excellent dribbling skills, Moura can be the pivot around whom Mourinho will look to build a fearsome attacking quadrant.

#1 He is young & has experience of winning titles

Brazil v Spain: Final - FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013
Moura has won a plethora of titles with PSG & Brazil

Lucas Moura is still 25 & has become a serial winner with PSG, a quality/experience that has been missing at United for a long time. He is looking for a team that can win titles and United fit the perfect bill.

United have very few players who know how to win league titles. With Moura's experience & ability, United can elevate its game to the next level and will look to take its place at the top tier of the European football alongside clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and many more.

This looks to be the perfect time for both United & Moura. United needs trickery, bravery & explosiveness in the center of its attack and Moura needs a new side to continue winning titles.
