Robin Van Persie hungry for more silverware

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is hungry for more trophies after winning his first piece of silverware in his first season at the club.

Van Persie, a £24 million buy from Arsenal in the summer last year, had spent eight years at the Emirates before joining United. During his time with Arsenal, the Dutch international could manage to win just one FA Cup and one FA Community Shield despite putting in decent performances. However, the Dutchman has tasted success and is already looking forward to win more trophies with the Red Devils. He said:

“From now on this is our new standard and we want to be champions every year. We want to win more. You could tell from day one that everyone wanted this and we did well.”

“It makes me even more hungry. I want to win it again and win more stuff – the FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup – I want to win it all. It is a great first step but I want more. It tastes lovely.”

Van Persie also praised Ryan Giggs who won his 13th Premier League title with Manchester United. 39-year-old Giggs, who had two assists to his name in the game against Aston Villa, will remain at Old Trafford for another year atleast after signing a contract extension and Van Persie said he feels honored to be playing alongside such a legend. He added:

“It’s an honour for me to play with Ryan Giggs. I told him that. Every training session, the way he loves the game, he sets an example for every one of us, young and old. Every day he is unbelievable. He is 39 now but you cannot tell.

“He is fit, works his socks off and is a true example for young and old.”
