Robin van Persie set to be fit for crucial tie against Madrid

Queens Park Rangers v Manchester United - Premier League

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, who picked up a strange injury against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, is expected to be fit for the second-leg Champions League Round of 16 against Real Madrid, which is going to played on 5th March.

van Persie fell into a TV camera bunker after losing his balance while he set up the opening goal for Rafael. He received long treatment during the match but was soon taken off for Danny Welbeck, prior to half-time.

It is believed that the injury is just some heavy bruises and nothing more with the striker set to miss only 2 or 3 days of training.

United face Norwich City before Madrid and it would be interesting to see if Ferguson will choose the Dutchman or not.

United remain 12 points clear and on top of the table with a 0-2 win with goals coming from Rafael and Ryan Giggs.

Giggs made his 999th appearance for the club. When asked about Giggs, Rafael said, ‘He is just such a good player. He’s the same in training; he just loves the game. He gives us experience, confidence and when you are feeling bad he comes and helps you, especially young players. Sometimes a young player finds it tough and he helps. He pulls the player aside. He spoke to me a lot when I was young. He knows it from playing for 22 years.’
