Manchester United have been handed a Real boost in their pursuit of Toni Kroos after reports in Spain emerged that Real Madrid will not be following up their interest in the German midfielder, according to the Express.

It was believed that the Spanish giants had entered the race to sign Kroos, with his future up in the air currently following disagreements over a new contract at Bayern Munich and United planning a massive contract offer to tempt him to Old Trafford.

Kroos has been offered fresh terms to remain with the reigning European champions with little over a year remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, but he is yet to put pen to paper as he holds out for a more important role in the team.

Bayern are keen to keep hold of the talented playmaker, but are wary that he could leave for nothing in 2015 and could decide to sell this summer in order to recoup a fee on the German.

A transfer price as little as £25 million has been mooted as the amount Bayern would demand if they can’t persuade Kroos to sign a new deal, but with Real saving the majority of their budget to splash on a big-name striker, that fee has still put them off turning their interest into a bid.

United are now the only interested party with the financial power to prize him away from Bavaria with manager David Moyes having been promised a massive transfer kitty for the summer, and with the player having recently confirmed that the Premier League is of interest to him, will test Bayern’s resolve with a summer bid in the knowledge that they will not have to enter into a bidding war with Real to get their man.
