Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal for the signing of Real Madrid’s talented, young striker, Alvaro Morata.

The Gunners have been linked with the Spaniard all season as his chances at Madrid have become extremely limited due to having been pushed down the pecking order for the striker’s role in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Jese Rodriguez has pushed ahead of Morata, who looked set to leave in the January transfer window – at least on loan – but no move transpired. Arsenal were tipped to make a big for him in the winter window but nothing happened on their part.

But according to the Daily Mirror, this has drawn David Moyes’ attention to the youngster, who he feels is now ready to leave in the summer. He will probably leave the Spanish giants once the current season has finished, as he doesn’t look any closer to achieving his dream of becoming a first-team starter for Madrid.

Rumours of Robin van Persie’s future continue to persist as he may leave the club. David Moyes is revamping his playing squad throughout the summer, with a host of big names expected to leave the club.

Rio Ferdinand may retire, while Nemanja Vidic will join Inter and could be followed there by Patrice Evra.

It is thought that Morata could be one of Moyes’ first signings in the summer transfer window as he looks to improve his squad from top to bottom.
