Moscow - Zenit St. Petersburg hammered in five goals as they demolished 10-man Spartak Moscow in a top-of-the-table Russian Premier League football clash on Saturday.

Russia midfielder Roman Shirokov scored twice to help his team win 5-0, while Spartak saw their ex-Celtic winger Aiden McGeady sent off for a vicious tackle.

“Today the team mood was absolutely great,” said Zenit head coach Luciano Spalletti.

“Like the whole stadium I can only applaud the guys for a perfect game, they pressed and controlled the ball very well.”

FC Kuban defeated rivals FC Krasnodar 2-1 in a derby clash on Friday.

Later Saturday Lokomotiv Moscow face Alania Vladikavkaz and Terek Grozny play FC Volga.

In four matches Sunday, CSKA Moscow host Anzhi and Rubin Kazan welcome Dynamo Moscow, while Amkar Perm face Mordovia Saransk.
