TAL Crystal Ball: Gameweek 5 Preview (Division 2)

Jigar Rathod in action for Titans FC

Division 2 has been the most competitive Division of season 4 so far and with one last game week before the league break, things are getting heated up with all the teams looking to grab vital 3 points which can make all the difference.

C2FC has clinched pole position but have Emdee Al-fateh, Kudlu and Titans hot on their tails. Athlos United and Rebels are working their way up while BFE and Brunton need to turn things around to avoid relegation.

8:00 AM – BFE United vs FC Brunton

The first game of the day sees BFE United take on FC Brunton, both teams are bottom of the table currently and a match against each other is a sure shot way to ensure points on the board, in turn start their club up to safety and avoid relegation.

Brunton began their season well but fell prey to complacency. They will be looking to give this match their all, while BFE on the other hand, who haven’t had a single win yet, will be trying their best to change their fate which is presently bound for relegation.

Crystal Ball: BFE United (1) – (2) FC Brunton

9:30 AM – Mercurial FC vs Emdee Al-Fateh

The second game of the day sees Mercurial FC take on title contenders Emdee Al-Fateh. Mercurial got off to a flying start, proving their mettle, but lost their flair somewhere along the way. A win against a top tier team is exactly what they need to up their morale and restore lost confidence.

Emdee Al-Fateh were undefeated up until their game against C2FC which cost them the 1st position on the table. They will be looking to steamroll the rest of the competition while maintaining a healthy goal difference hoping that C2FC make a mistake and drop points along the way.

Players to watch: Rama Akshat Chopra (Mercurial FC), Kiran Bale (Emdee Al-Fateh)

Crystal Ball: Mercurial FC (0) – (2) Emdee Al-Fateh

11:00 AM – C2FC vs FC Kudlu

C2FC have firmly planted their flag on the top of the table and don’t have any plans of giving up their position. They have played some excellent football so far, at times trouncing their competition and giving it their all to narrowly avoid defeat. But their opponents for this match are a team that they best be wary of if they wish to keep their position.

FC Kudlu got off to a rocky start and things remained turbulent with some of their key players not being able to show up for certain key matches. They have managed to keep themselves at a healthy spot on the table despite the hindrances and will be looking to go all out against the table leaders to boost their morale.

Players to watch: Abhishek Jagan (C2FC), Christopher Lalruatfela (FC Kudlu)

Crystal Ball: C2FC (2) – (2) FC Kudlu

12:30 PM – Garden Boys FC vs Rebels FC

The match between Garden Boys FC and Rebels FC is an important fixture for both teams for different reasons. Garden Boys will be looking for a win to turn things around for them, considering their recent downward spiral which has seen them lose matches that could’ve turned out differently.

Rebels FC, on the other hand, started their campaign not quite as planned but turned things around in the most spectacular fashion picking up win after win with the team working together as a unit spearheaded by their star player Riva Edjique.

Players to watch: Madhu Thammaiah (Garden Boys FC), Reva Edjique (Rebels FC)

Crystal Ball: Garden Boys FC (1) – (2) Rebels FC

2:15 PM – Diablos FC vs Titans FC

Diablos FC and Titans FC is a fixture between two top quality teams with the two teams separated by just two points on the table. Diablos FC haven’t been playing up to their usual standards but picking up a win in their last match would have given them hope to restore themselves to their former pride.

Titans FC have had the most brilliant run so far but had hiccups when they drew a sure shot victory against C2FC which cost them the opportunity to go to the top of the table. The draw against Kudlu in their previous fixture has seen things slow down a bit, and they will be looking to go all out in this match and restore their winning form.

Players to watch: Zahan Umrigar (Diablos FC), Anirudh Krishnadas (Titans FC)

Crystal Ball: Diablos FC (2) – (3) Titans FC

3:45 PM – Athlos United v. FC Sparta

The last match of the day between Athlos United and FC Sparta is going to determine which team still has an outside chance of climbing to the top tier of the table. Both teams have gone through their own rough patches and have worked hard to get over it. Athlos seem to have done a better job by picking up wins in their last few fixtures while Sparta have lost a few matches that were sure shot wins at the end of the first half.

Both teams are in more or less similar positions on the table and a win is absolutely vital if either team hopes to climb the ladder once the league resumes after the break. A win for Athlos United would see them competing against the top 3 spots, while a win for Sparta is vital to begin a change for the better.

Players to watch: Clivert Martis (Athlos United), Benjamin George (FC Sparta)

Crystal Ball: Athlos United (1) – (2) FC Sparta
