TAL Season 3 (Division 1): Gameweek 2 Review

The Parikrma team poses for a team photograph. Will this be the team that lifts the trophy come the end of the season?

Parikrma put in a five-star performance versus Project 7 to maintain pole position. Horizons FC and Supernova FC both picked up wins in close matches against Yataghan Internazionale and FC Kougen Kiokou respectively. Flipkart FC stunned Gremio FC to pick up their first win of the season. Mavericks FC finally got the better of Mercurial FC winning 3-0. The derby between Samba FC and Rare Dare FC was postponed because of bad light.

Parikrma 5 – 0 Project 7

Parikrma picked up their second consecutive win when they beat Project 7 in the first game of the day. Project 7 were up to the task in the first half but Santosh J’s opener for Parikrma just before halftime changed the landscape of the game. Parikma scored four more in the second half while conceding none to keep their perfect record alive. Project 7 showed glimpses of potential in the first half but never really capitalized on it and were outplayed in the second half.

Scorers:

Santosh J 28’; Louis Nickson 34’; Chiranjeevi M 36’,39’ ; Ravi Babu 51’ (Parikrma)

Yataghan Internazionale 0 – 1 Horizons FC

Horizons FC scored with the final kick of the game to secure all three points against a gritty Yataghan side. Horizons had a missed a penalty minutes before that goal and Yataghan seemed to have snatched a point but a momentary lapse of concentration in the final play of the game saw them concede. Rob Fielder and Moussa Toure were robust in midfield while Ricky Joy and Ravinder Singh had a good game for Horizons.

Scorers:

Dinesh Kumar 60’ (Horizons FC)

Gremio FC 1 – 2 Flipkart FC

Gremio FC lost out to Flipkart FC slipping to ninth place in the standings. Paarth Dhar opened the scoring for Flipkart with an exquisite free kick well placed into the corner but Gremio responded well and found the equalizer through Nikhil Pande’s long-range screamer. Gremio wasted two big chances in the second half to win the game and paid the price when Pavan Powar was played through and he found the net with a dink over the keeper to secure the win for Flipkart.

Scorers:

Nikhil Pande 17’ (Gremio FC)

Paarth Dhar 6’; Pavan Powar 55’ (Flipkart FC)

FC Kougen Kikou 0 – 1 Supernova FC

Supernova FC edged out FC Kougen Kikou in an evenly matched game between the two sides. Both sides went into halftime goalless but Supernova came out stronger in the second half looking for the goal and were rewarded with a penalty. The resulting penalty was missed by Binay Basnet but he more than made up for it with a towering header moments later which decided the game. FCKK once again put on a good performance but need to turn them into results.

Scorers:

Binay Basnet 38’ (Supernova FC)

Mavericks FC 3 – 0 Mercurial FC

Mavericks FC rebounded from their disappointing loss to Supernova last week by beating Mercurial FC 3-0. The first half was goalless between the sides but important substitutions saw Mavericks up the ante in the second half scoring three. Basil Mohammed opened the scoring in the 34th minute before Vikas Bhat and Seby Jacob added one a piece. Mercurial need to add attacking firepower if they are to get any results.

Scorers:

Mavericks FC – Basil Mohammed 34’; Vikas Bhat 38’; Seby Jacob 57’
