On the eve of the Nehru Cup 2012 final between Cameroon and India, it seems that Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri is placing Cameroon ahead of them.

Calling Cameroon as a “class side”, Chhetri said, “They are a very strong side. In fact, among all the teams that I have played against in the Nehru Cup since 2007, this is the most capable side.

“I have been fortunate enough to play against Japan, Australia, South Korea donning the national jersey and I can tell you they (Cameroon) are among the strongest teams I have played against.”

Though team India lost their last group league match against Cameroon on Friday, Sunil seemed very confident of defeating this African giant today to clinch the title for the third consecutive time.

Speaking about winning today’s match he said, “Every team takes the field with a sole aim to win. But it`s not that easy every time. We need to play to our potential and not bother about other aspects. We need to play like a team possessed,”

Though in the last match both the teams have tested their bench strength, but it was Cameroon, who got the psychological advantage before the final, beating India by 1-0. Skipper Sunil Chhetri, who was rested in the match, was quite pleased with his team’s performance.

“I`m very proud of the manner we played. We came back strongly after conceding an early goal. They didn`t have many shots at our goal except for the penalty and the last-minute chance. Instead, we created more openings and should have scored,” he said.
