Jose Mourinho(L) and Andre Villas-Boas

Tottenham take on Chelsea in the early kick off in a fascinating encounter. It is not often that going into a London derby, Spurs should find themselves higher than Chelsea. But after 5 gameweeks, Spurs sit in 2nd spot have only dropped points in the other London derby they competed in, losing to Arsenal. Chelsea are two places below after dropping points away to United and losing against Everton as well.

Mourinho’s men last week put a halt to their apparent mini-slump, which included an embarrassing loss at home to Basel, with a comfortable win in another London derby, against Fulham. Spurs looked to have been dropping points against Cardiff, Paulinho’s back heel prevented that from happening though, late into stoppage time.

Tottenham Hotspur have been rising in the past few months and look to have a genuine chance of competing for a Champions League spot again, following their summer acquisitions. They have won of the most aesthetically pleasing squad sheets in the Premier League and are on the back of a 5 game winning streak at home, including 4 clean sheets in those games.

Chelsea, who haven’t had the epic start fans expected them to under Mourinho (neither a crisis as some would suggest), are undefeated in 92% of their last 13 home games, and are unbeaten in 7 clashes against Spurs.

On the whole, Chelsea have the advantage in the last 20 fixtures between these two sides, winning 10 of them as opposed to 3 by Spurs. They’ve also managed a total of 38 goals as compared to Spurs’ 22.

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Roberto Soldado are the top scorers for Tottenham, managing 2 goals each, the same number as Chelsea’s top scorer, Oscar.

Tottenham have scored the most during the 15 mins after the restart, while Chelsea are likely to get one in the first 15 mins.

Spurs have conceded the least amount of goals this season, just the 1. While Chelsea are yet to score one away from home.
