Tunisia to sack national football coach

Tunis, Feb 3 (IANS):

The Tunisia Football Federation will replace head coach Sami Trabelsi after the national team failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the African Nations Cup.

The country’s sports minister and the chairman of the football federation will meet next week to discuss Trabelsi’s replacement, reports Xinhua.

Upon his arrival at the Tunis Carthage airport, Trabelsi was met with the word “Degage” (ship out) and booed by scores of angry fans who came to vent their anger at the team’s poor performance at the continental event.

Both Tunisia and Algeria were eliminated after they drew their matches 1-1 against Togo and 2-2 against Cote d’Ivoire, respectively, earlier in the week.
